God, its been over 2 months since my last entry.

Well i've just got back from venice again. This time i spent a week there. I spent the days wandering, really, and becoming acquainted with a city whose size is limited not by bureacracy (especially) but by physical factors. They no longer really build on the island of Venezia but on the, mainland town of Mestre. Technically Venice is composed of more than just the island city, you see.

Anyhow, because of the nature of Venice i spent most of my time not photographing it. It seems senseless to end up filling my memory card with inconsequential frames depicting every canal intersection, etc. The trouble is, that because Venice is so stereotypically beautiful (chicken or egg syndrome i wonder?) it becomes impossible to capture it. So i focused instead on photographing its inhabitants and trying to work out in my own mind how such a city operates.

Its population having decreased by 30% over the last 20 or so years, Venice has a unique feel about it. I can't help wondering that more and more it exists only for we tourists and that it will eventually become a theme park. Only Las Vegas beat them to it...

So maybe Venice is no longer necessary? I think perhaps it would be a shame to see it sink, but i have to admit, i have no real connection to the place other than it became the backdrop for my very own romantic movie.
